Ysidro Ochoa, 94, of Olton, died Saturday, April 30, 2016, in Plainview. Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M., Monday, May 2, 2016, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 3, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Father John Smith as celebrant. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors of Olton.
Ysidro was born November 25, 1921, in Runge, TX, to Ysidro and Francisca (Rodriguez) Ochoa. In the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, Ysidro served during WWII in India. He married Hortencia Zamora on March 16, 1946 in Panna Maria, TX. In 1973, he moved to Olton from Goliad and was a farmer. A member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Ysidro loved reading the newspaper and talking to family on the phone. Family was important to Ysidro, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hortencia Ochoa, in 2009, a son, Ysidro Ochoa III, two brothers, and a sister.
Survivors include five sons: Erasmo Ochoa and his wife, Teresa of Victoria, Emilio Ochoa and his wife, Connie of Kyle, TX, Ernesto Ochoa and his wife, Elojia of Yorktown, Robert Ochoa of Olton, and Joe Ochoa and his wife, Elsa of Yorktown, four daughters: Julia Rodriguez and her husband, Roberto of Port Lavaca, Gloria Perez of Olton, Hortensia Villanueva and her husband, Joe of Olton, and Anita Marroquin of Taylor, MI, and two sisters: Paula Villanueva of San Antonio and Frances Rodriguez of Goliad. He was blessed with 27 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
